Judge Denies Motion to Dismiss, Allowing Kasowitz Client Gillis & Assoc., Inc.’s Case to Proceed Against American Media, Inc.

On August 7, 2012, Justice Kapnick of the N.Y. Supreme Court ruled from the bench, denying American Media, Inc.’s motion to dismiss the complaint of Kasowitz client Gillis & Assoc., Inc., a publishing consulting firm. In its complaint, Gillis alleges claims for breach of contract, quantum meruit, unjust enrichment and declaratory judgment, seeking compensation from American Media pursuant to the parties’ contract wherein Gillis was to receive payments from American Media with respect to renewals or extensions of contracts by third-parties with American Media. Kasowitz partners Marc E. Kasowitz and Hector Torres are leading Gillis & Assoc., Inc.’s representation.
