Clarine Nardi Riddle Examines State Attorney General Powers and Duties Concerning Consumer Protection
Kasowitz Counsel Clarine Nardi Riddle served as a moderator and panelist as part of The George Washington University Law School’s four-part program examining the powers and duties of State Attorneys General (AGs). Riddle’s panel, “AG Role in Consumer Protection: Top cop, protector of consumers, including vulnerable populations, or over the top regulator? Will the real AG please stand up!,” focused on key consumer protection roles of AGs within their individual states, joining together in multistate litigation, and with collective efforts working with their federal counterparts, including the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The panel also included Jane Azia, Chief, Bureau of Consumer Frauds & Protection, Office of New York AG Eric Schneiderman; and Helen Mac Murray of Mac Murray, Petersen & Shuster LLP (former Chief, Consumer Protection Section, Office of Ohio AG Betty Montgomery).
