Nancy Elizabeth Kaschel's practice focuses on general commercial and product liability litigation. Nancy regularly defends major manufacturers against products liability claims in both the U.S. and abroad, including lawsuits brought by individual plaintiffs, consumer groups and governmental entities, as well as class actions.
Nancy is actively engaged in the defense of fraud, conspiracy and product liability suits brought against Liggett Group, a manufacturer of tobacco products. As part of Liggett’s national counsel she has defended hundreds of cases throughout the country in both state and federal court and participated in numerous trials.
Nancy was trial counsel for Liggett in the largest civil suit ever brought under the federal anti-racketeering statute known as RICO. The nine month trial, brought against Liggett and the country’s major tobacco companies, included Nancy’s cross-examinations of expert witnesses and closing argument. The lawsuit resulted in a lone defense verdict for Liggett. Nancy was also the lead trial lawyer for Liggett in two product liability actions filed in New York Supreme Court, Kings County, which both ended in defense verdicts.
