Latino Leaders Magazine Recognizes Kasowitz Attorneys as Top Latino Lawyers

Latino Leaders Magazine has named Kasowitz Benson Torres partners Hector Torres and Maria H. Ruiz to its 2020 Top Latino Lawyers list.  The annual lists honor attorneys nationwide who are leading practitioners or rising stars in their field and leaders in the Latino community.

Hector Torres

For the fourth year, Hector Torres has been recognized as a Top Latino Lawyer for his exemplary achievements in the legal profession and leadership in the Latino community. He has successfully led the prosecution of groundbreaking antitrust and other complex commercial cases, including recovering more than $2 billion in antitrust and securities matters.  A leader in the Latino community, Mr. Torres has, among his other community activities, contributed to St. Luke’s Education Foundation, which funds and supports his former elementary school in the South Bronx, created a mentor program at the school and spearheaded a major firm fundraiser in New York City in the wake of Hurricane Maria. 

Maria H. Ruiz

Maria H. Ruiz has been recognized as a Top Latino Lawyer for her professional achievements and community involvement.  Ms. Ruiz’s notable achievements include defending major tobacco company Liggett Group in numerous jury trials, including a six-week jury trial involving personal injury and products liability claims in which Liggett was found not liable, obtaining a judgment for Coach in a trademark infringement action involving the import and sale of counterfeit merchandise and working with the DRI Trial Tactics Committee in creating numerous professional development programs for defense attorneys.
